Java Burn Today

Today I put Java burn in my coffee. It's not going to be my usual but instead of brewing a cup of tea I just throw it into my coffee. It looks the same as the t-burn, I haven't looked to see if there's anything different in it but I'm sure it was meant for the coffee. It actually tastes like black tea once I get down to the bottom of my coffee. I haven't looked at the scale yet but I hope it's working.

A Little Cardio and Stretch

Today along with drinking my t-burn in my green tea I had a small bowll of goulash, and for an afternoon snack a small piece of chocolate and some potato chips. I know I'm supposed to have a better calorie intake to sustain me but there's days that I just want what I want. I can say I'm down a couple pounds and I'm moving more lately so I'm on my way I hope. Playing with our home entertainment system the Wii, I found some Latin dancing and fit stretching to be just what I needed during my day. I also used the inversion table for 5 minutes. I'll check back in a couple days.

No Diet Necessary

Tea burn again today.  Green tea no sweeteners. Added sugar is not healthy. We get it. Moving along, Today has been a blur to me. I know I asked to look at a historic looking home today. Basement, 2 living quarters floors and an attic. Pigeon coop? In the basement. It must have been used for shelving because I didn't see any kind of indication there were birds ever in there. Garlic grilled shrimp toasts and spicy grilled Brussels sprouts for dinner.  That's all for today. Have a great day and a better one tomorrow.

Does Tea Burn Work For Me cont.

So,  today I started with 2 sauteed portabella mushrooms and a hard boiled egg, coffee and sweet creamer. Hey don't judge. At least I'm trying. Ok, so we have a Wii and I don't want to go to the gym. Today I spent 30 minutes of cardio dance and 10 of boxing and stretching. Lunch consisted of baked cod and buttered corn. Throwing in a soda and a cup of green tea and the teaburn.  Dinner, baked crusted chicken and a spring salad. Remember only one cup of the tea burn a day. you can have as much tea as you want but only one packet per day. It has no taste so my green tea is just lovely.

Does Tea Burn Work For Me

2 days ago, a 180 day supply of TBurn plus a 30-day supply of Java Burn arrived on our doorstep after paying the initial $200 or around there. I have to do something because I feel sluggish and it's hard for me to breathe with so much added weight and I don't know how I'm putting it on except for the fact that I love Oreos and sugary cereal. Don't get me wrong we eat pretty well and eat healthy too, but my doctor says don't forget to live. This is day two for me.  It's a supplement to help lose weight but I know I need to cut out more sugar and carbs to help it along.  My starting weight is 148.2 and I'm going to try to get down to about 132. I don't go to the gym but I tried to work out a little bit at home and I have dance class three times a week.  I believe this is day one for my husband and henis adding a packet to his tea also but he goes to the gym everyday.  Let the weight loss begin. teaburn.com

Go Fish

Growing up with a family that liked to camp, we as children were taught to fish. We were told if we hold our mouth just right, spit on a worm, wait! What?  Well, I'm all grown up now and I like my fish already cleaned and ready to cook. One of my favorites was fish and chips. No not fries, chips. You know, the home made chips some restaurants serve. Yum.  My dad would make catfish tenders or nuggets and homemade chips. What a treat. Here are some fish and chip recipes I have tried in the past. The first one is fish and fries but you can change the fries to a salad like my doctor suggests, and bake the fish?, Sorry doc. That won't cut it here. If you have any good recipes, please let me know. For now have a great day and a better one tomorrow. https://www.thespruceeats.com/best-fish-and-chips-recipe-434856 https://stories.app.goo.gl/qVdp https://youtu.be/qHl1MoXPXz0 https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2013/03/reverse-engineering-mcdonalds-how-to-make-a-scarily-authen...

Did Someone say Chinese Food?

Okay, I confess. I love those flavors. Spicy, savory, a little sweet and sour.  Fried rice, crab rangoon, oh my. I found a great fried rice recipe that I serve to company with many sides. I also have a question,  If I take all of my bookmarks and pitch them, I could just tell you about new things I found. But then there would be no more bookmarks, but we could start something new. I'm thinking about it so stay tuned. It may be a once a week in depth thing. For now, have a great day and a better one tomorrow. https://joyfoodsunshine.com/asian-chicken-lettuce-wraps/ https://www.aheadofthyme.com/60-chinese-takeout-recipes-at-home/ Oh. Musical Poetry

Have musical instruments ever sparked your imagination? Take a look at these next few links and be amazed at what musical instruments can do. The first one is absolutely amazing.   https://youtu.be/gaQYb4Ykhz8 https://youtu.be/MSqtLmrGQJA https://biggeekdad.com/2019/02/20-instruments-in-1/

What's a Fondue Anyway?

Do you like cheese or chocolate? I love having these at little gatherings that we have. Haven't made them in a while but I love the classic cheese fondue and I love variations of chocolate fondu. Below sreome of my go-to's. Cheese fondue you can dip almost about anything if you have some medium rare steak cubes small roasted potatoes cut into bite-sized chunks, crustini, vegetables, your ideas can be endless. And chocolate, need I say more. If you have a favorite that you'd like to please comment. Remember, there's no rhyme or reason for my blog, I'm merely breaking out my bookmarks. For now have a great day and a better one tomorrow. https://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/classic-swiss-cheese-fondue Here is a site with many variations. https://www.tasteofhome.com/collection/fondue-recipes/

DIY Under the Stairs Closet

Closet makeover. Have you ever wanted to redo that small closet under the stairway? Here's a link to help. Or a different take on a table runner? Pilaf

every once in awhile we go somewhere and they serve a pilaf with our dinner. There are several dishes that are called pilaf but the link below is one of my favorites and I have served it at luncheons I have attended. This would be a great potluck dish to take as it serves four to six people as a meal or many if they spoon it onto their plate at a potluck. Don't forget to cook your rice a day ahead of time. If you have a great pilaf recipe I'd love to hear it.  I'm always willing to try something new. The first link is my favorite and I have added a few others that I feel are worthy of this blog. I love Corn on the Cob

Here comes summer in Illinois and the corn on the cob is starting to hit the stores and Farmers market stands. If you've never made corn chowder I found the best recipe. If you needed a little thicker soup, just take a couple ladles of the soup and put it in a blender and pour it back in. I love how they saved the cobs and made the liquid base with them. You can even make sure all the corn kernels are off of them,  let them cool and let your toddlers gnaw on them like a treat. This next link is my favorite. For now have a great day and a better one tomorrow. https://natashaskitchen.com/corn-chowder-recipe/

Copycat

Copycat.  What does that word actually mean? Well looking it up on the web I found this information in one place. (A person who copies another's behavior, dress, or ideas.) There are so many copycat ideas out there but my favorite are the recipes and below I'm linking a few of my favorites like the Olive Garden Zuppa Toscana. That soup is down to earth soul soothing. There's not much more you can say about that soup. How about Wendy's chili?  Who doesn't like that? Go ahead and click all of the links below.  They should take you to your next meal.  If you have a copycat recipe you'd love to share, I'd love to try it. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchen/copycat-zuppa-toscana-5565099 https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/231082/just-like-wendys-chili/ https://copykat.com/burger-king-whopper/ https://copykat.com/chipotle-cilantro-lime-rice-recipe/ https://copykat.com/cracker-barrel-old-country-store-fried-apples/ https://www.google.com/search?q...

Fruit Again?

With the grandkids arriving soon we're going to have to look for ways to keep those little ones busy. There are so many things that we can create with food I'd like to share a few. Or how about a dip for your fruit? You can create fun animals, bugs or if you like sushi, these should spark your interest.  Put your skills to the test on these next few links.  For now have a great day and a better one tomorrow. https://www.biggerbolderbaking.com/fresh-fruit-sushi/ https://www.pinterest.com/pin/36662184445810447/  https://www.browneyedbaker.com/fruit-dip-recipe/ https://www.naturespath.com/en-us/recipes/fruit-vegetable-bug-snacks/?fbclid=IwAR0vaIkekfcPGuVk7pjpkwEaz21Q94_AnS5Fn_2yRZlRorks1oMBtMwF4yE

Water Logged

Physical coming up? Yes, it's that time of year and my doctor says my creatine  levels are elevated. Drink more water, avoid salt, and large amounts of protein. I read heavy amounts of exercise the day before a urine test can throw those levels out of wack.  Take care of your kidneys, I know people who have been on dialysis and have had transplants.  I'm going to try and get myself back into good numbers. You can too. Start today. We have lots to live for. I added a link here too that describes creatine. For now, have a great day and a better one tomorrow https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements-creatine/art-20347591 Here is a link that will give you images and ways to up that water consumption. I know I don't drink enough and will try to do better.  https://www.wellmark.com/blue/nutrition/infused-water-decked-out-and-delicious

How To Cut Fruit

Is there a good way to cut up cantaloupe or any other fruit for that matter?  While on a Texas vacation it was pretty warm. We wanted a cooler menu for the week, so I tried cutting up a watermelon the way one link showed how to do it. I have to say it worked, but keep in mind if you do it according to the link below you will have a juicy mess on your hands so prepare it on a cookie sheet with sides. What they had me do is cut the ends off and then peel the watermelon with a knife. It takes a little practice but hey, the results work. I like the cut the fruit into sticks video linked below also. Oh and don't you just love it how something you've looked at seems to start popping up. I also included that link that shows fruit and vegetable carvings. If you have any tips, I would love to hear them. Line Dance

So when you're retired you need to find things to do right?  Now this next link isn't one that was in my bookmarks but I had to share it and that might happen from time to time.  I recently started taking line dance lessons and when you are thrown in to a group of people that have been doing it for a long time, they grab you and stick you in the middle of the class. I thought what?  I need to be in the front because I need to see the teacher. Wrong!  What they want you to do is watch other people's feets and when you're in the middle of the room and you're dancing, turning towards all four walls, you got to know what you're doing, lol.  And guess what if you mess up, you just hold still till you can catch up.  This video I'm showing you is the one I most comfortable with and now I'm sharing it with you.  P.S. it's good exercise. For now, have a great day and a better one tomorrow. https://youtu.be/mOJNH_8ojHY

Did Someone Say Party?

Here we go again. Are you looking for something and I always seem to fall back to Martha Stewart's website. She really has it going on doesn't she? Her link talks about salads but it goes right hand in hand with an easy charcuterie board for your next gathering. So I'm going to start with the first link that I bookmarked and then go back through because I want to find an easy idea for gathering and small bites is going to be perfect.  Salty, sweet, lots of cheeses, fruit and breads, plus chocolates and of course cocktails and mocktails for the kids and adults too. Here are some of the sites that I bookmarked for previous occasions. Take a look you might find something that you like. Oh and there's a trader Joe's linked below it seems to be one of my favorite places to peruse.  There are also templates out there that you can use to lay down on your boards to give you an idea of how to place your goodies. And let's not forget about Hy-Vee.  Their Seasons books hav...

Bloody Mary anyone?

Who doesn't enjoy a great bloody Mary? I have had so many different variations of it but I feel that the best ones have a nice spicy kick to them with that peppery aftertaste. I'm not saying spicy to the point where you're on fire for the next couple days. But I'm always searching for another good one if you have any good recipes please throw them my way. There are a lot of pictures out there with people vying for first place because they have the best bloody Mary and some of them are downright lunch-worthy. I've seen them with cornish hens chicken legs sliders cheese bacon celery you name it but I love a good spicy tomato juice. Heck of Virgin bloody Mary is all I would need. I could skip the alcohol and mocktails are perfect for those who don't like to consume alcohol. Anyway here's a link for one of the bookmarks I had from long ago.   For now have a great day and a better one tomorrow. https://www.foodiecrush.com/the-best-bloody-mary-recipe-bloody-mary-b...

Wally Park

Do you struggle to find places safe enough to park your care in when you travel by air?I have parked several places look for the cheapest and most secure places to park my car when I travel. If I'm in the Quad City Iowa, Illinois, I have a couple of options. I can take a Lyft ride or leave my car at the airport. Moline International(MLI). It's okay to Lyft if it's early to and from the airport, but to catch a ride home after 8pm on a week night is almost impossible. I know because I have tried it.  Let's talk about flying from a little larger airport closer to me. Chicago O'Hare (ORD). I have left my car at hotels but my favorite place is Wally Park. It's a secure place to keep your car and they will shuttle you to and from the airport. They will baby your car while you are gone and for a little extra green they will wash it when you get there to pick it up. Heres the link https://www.wallypark.com/ Well, I just now went out to their site because it was one of m...

Lose it!

Okay folks. It's getting nice out I love in Illinois and I know it's warm but you could always find a mall to walk in. Go work out, lose some weight, live longer. I love to eat and sometimes it's junk food but I know that my health is important and I should take better care of myself. I even threw in an exercise for your feet. My dogs get tired too.  That is why I bookmarked a lot of these. Try some or try none but get out there and be you. I threw in a salad recipe to boot. I can't guarantee how long these articles are going to be up but for now they are working. If you try any of these please let me know. Skirt Steak

I have always wanted to try making skirt steak,  but then you hear people not wanting to fix it because of how tough it is,  plus being a cheaper cut of meat. They talk about not grilling it because it dries it out. Since I don't have a grill I decided to try a recipe for a different one instead the one below, but the one below was in my bookmarks so I thought that I would post this and try it next. What I did is I took a one and a half pound skirt steak and I marinated in oil soy sauce honey salt and pepper garlic powder and a little chili flake. I put it back in the refrigerator to marinate for about 2 hours. I then heated up a cast iron skillet and then seared it on each side for approximately 3 minutes and took it off to rest for about 5. It sure looked like the picture but the inside was still somewhat very rare. Granted they say that it's best to make this, you know, on the rare side but it was still pretty tough. I even made a wonderful chimichurri sauce for it.  I...

Replace Netflix?

I like watching Netflix just as much as the next person, but with the rising prices, I think I have to choose between some of the things I really want and some of the things I really need. I want Netflix but I don't need it.  In 2016 I found some links that are supposed to help you get the most out of Netflix but I'm not sure I've never tried them so today I'm going to post these links and take them out of my bookmarks.  After doing that I'm going to start going through it and looking at all the ways to get the most bang for my buck. Have a look at the secret codes and see if they help you at all. I'm still in the process of deciding whether I want to change movie stations or stay with Netflix. What do you think I should do? For now have a great day and a better one tomorrow. https://fox4kc.com/news/these-secret-netflix-codes-will-unlock-hidden-categories/ https://www.tvguide.com/galleries/15-netflix-original-series-1091421/

Tea for Two?

Yes, teas are good for you.  I will give you two reasons.  First I found out that my bone density scan came back as having osteoporosis. What are you telling me?, I asked. I was told I am at high risk for a to left hip fracture. The cause?  Well, what I got from the conversation was that there are two things on my diet that I should have been concerned with. One.....carbonated drinks, what? Mainly phosphoric acid I guess. It keeps mold out of sugary drinks too?  I never paid any attention to that. I was young, who cares?, and the second was my salt intake. All I can say is oh oh.  That's when I started researching on the Internet. Who doesn't self search for answers?  I started looking at all the ways to help my bones become stronger outside of maintenance medications from pharmaceutical companies. I currently don't take any any would like to avoid it. I stopped drinking colas and pretty much anything carbonated and lowered my salt intake and am working on ...

Kind of a Bucket list?

Every once in a while you come across something on the Internet that catches your eye. This was no exception and I'd like to cook, so I gave this a read. I have never been to Tokyo and I might not ever get there but New Orleans is here in the United States and I could give it a try. Their little clip reads "(When in NOLA, go for the trifecta: a fried oyster po’boy, spicy Cajun gumbo and, of course, the world’s greatest beignets at Café du Monde.)"  I doubt if I'll ever be able to travel out of the country again but the foods here sound wonderful. I have tried the fresh poke in Hawaii and it was wonderful. There are so many different foods I haven't tried and if I ever get to other parts of the world I'll be sure to try anything out of the ordinary. Lobster rolls in Maine... I could put that on my bucket list. Even though you might not be able to travel to these places take a look and read this because you never know you might be the one be able to make it tast...

Cinco de Mayo

Well, instead of breaking out the bookmarks today I'm going to use a link instead of trying to find a bookmark for today because I want to do something a little special. I want to stay home and have dinner because it's raining outside and I want to make some homemade enchiladas. They always turn out good but I do use store-bought flour tortillas. Today I'm making my own looking for an easy recipe and the recipe below just fit the bill. I've never made tortillas and these came out just fine I'm not going to say too much today because I have things to do, but I'm telling you my friend said these look great. Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone. Who doesn't like this kind of food? I'll pair it with the margarita for dinner.  For now have a great day and a better one tomorrow. https://thecafesucrefarine.com/best-ever-homemade-flour-tortillas/#wprm-recipe-container-28318

Artichokes

For years,  I have gone through the produce section looking at vegetables, wondering how do you cook that or what exactly is that. Well, a few years back I finally got the nerve to start grabbing vegetables and looking them up and creating dishes out of them. The artichoke was no different I had no idea what to do with it it looked weird but then one day I was standing in the store and someone was picking them up and I walked right up to them and said okay, how are you going to prepare that?  That person just told me that they boil it in water for about an hour and then scrape the underneath of the leaves off onto their teeth. Thank you for the information I said.  What the heck was that conversation all about? Boil it and scrape it off onto your teeth okay here we go. So I read many sites on how to prepare an artichoke and after a while I became familiar with either cutting this stem off and cutting most of the tip off of the artichoke and either steaming it or boiling i...

Christmas in the 3rd Ward

One year we went to Milwaukee's downtown Christmas celebration. It was the first Friday weekend in December in their third ward district. It's their annual lighting of the tree event. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn which was very close to the festivities. Friends, food, drink, and fireworks made the evening a memorable event. https://historicthirdward.org/experience/events/christmas-in-the-ward/ https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/mkemdgi-hilton-garden-inn-milwaukee-downtown/

Asparagus on the side

Who doesn't live asparagus? And when we talk about it, the weirdest conversation comes up about it. I know you know what I'm talking about. I could eat it fresh and washed right out of the garden providing it's thin.  I'm always looking for new ways to prepare it and the bookmarked links below have some of those ways. Thanks for looking and let me know what you think about these recipes I found. https://www.marthastewart.com/1143345/asparagus-casserole https://www.marthastewart.com/1517003/pea-and-asparagus-salad?utm_source=mslo-newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=everydayfood_070817&did=158480-20170708 https://food52.com/blog/22083-river-cafe-london-cookbook-ruth-rogers-tagliarini-with-asparagus-and-herbs For now have a great day,  and a better one tomorrow.

Swanky?

well I was doing really good getting rid of bookmarks but I saw this one today and instead of bookmarking it I'm just going to use it as my entry for today.  So you bought a place and don't have a lot of cabinet space but still want somewhere to store all of your liquor and glasses and accessories all the while keeping them together. Here's a great idea although I did something different but I plan to do this in the future somewhere else in the house. Maybe not as a liquor cabinet with somewhere to store other things because you can never have too much storage. So...... check this out. https://www.marthastewart.com/1506931/style-swanky-home-bar Let me know what you think, or do you have a cool cabinet to share? For now have a great day and a better one tomorrow.

Mac and Cheese, Yes please

Here's another bookmark involving a cheesey side dish. I'm not a big cheese fan but I do like a good recipe that incorporates cheese.   Take funeral potatoes for example. It's one of my go-to potluck, family gathering side dishes. But when I saw this macaroni and cheese recipe and who doesn't love the music from John legend in a Martha Stewart recipe,  well come on it's a no-brainer. It's a good thing, right? One reviewer said that it would be better with his seasoning salt so I'm going to search for that recipe too and put it in here if I can find it also I pasted a couple different places where this recipe was being made. After watching the video John puts some seasoning into his milk base and they talk about him liking Lawry's seasoning salt so I am assuming that's what it is. And while I'm at it, at the bottom of the recipe links I threw in the fried macaroni and cheese from Martha Stewart. https://www.tfrecipes.com/john-legend-seasoning-salt...

Kale Yes

Kale sometimes gets a bad rap because of it's texture, but prepare it correctly and you will have a hearty, green leafy salad that will be sure to please the pickiest salad eaters. And Brussels sprouts, well, they have haters too. It's a required taste I guess. Shaved into this salad, they shine on their own. I served this to a local Lions club years ago along with a chicken salad croissant and they loved it.  Try it. You'll like it.  https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/kale-and-brussels-sprout-salad?intcid=inline_amp For now, have a great day and a better one tomorrow.

Colon Check

Quote a few years back I decided to ask my doctor about the home test kit Cologuard since I had previous good outcomes with my colonoscopies. He agreed that I could definitely do this since there were no instances of colon cancer in my family. I ordered the test and followed the instructions. My test came back with good results.  Not long after that, my sister was diagnosed with colon cancer. After removal of part of her colon she was told she was clear of cancer and would not need radiation or chemo. She has been cancer free for many years now. I talked to my doctor about it and so to play it safe I went under anesthesia for a colonoscopy. My exam was good. I truly believe diet and exercise play a key role in keeping your colon healthy. Cologuard was good for me but the scary outcome of what happened to my sister changed my exam routine. I believe I can go back to using the Cologuard because I have a different lifestyle than she does. I think I eat a lot more healthier and get mor...

Service Transfer Headache

So sorry about the delay, but my husband wanted to switch services and put us both as users of GoogleFi. I have been with Straight Talk for many years. For a few days now we have been trying to transfer my number. The headache began when the first transfer didn't take. I was putting in all the right information. Then after a couple days I found out that I was putting in some of the information wrong.  I had no idea I had been entering wrong information all along to try and Port my information from Straight Talk to GoogleFi. After many attempts of trying myself, talking to tech support from Straight Talk, GoogleFi, and Verizon, my husband took over. Here is what transpired. He got a hold of Straight Talk port tech support and they said that we're putting in the zip code wrong. There's no way.  My bill is under my current address since I auto pay with my credit card, so I thought. Well then we thought okay we moved here a couple years ago so maybe it was from our previous add...

Warm Days Deserve Lemonade

It's a warmer day here in Illinois, a balmy spring day of 83 degrees F. I enjoy lemonade once in a while but I hate the work of juicing lemons, so I have 2 bookmarks with juicing quantities and an easy lemonade recipe that tells you just how much juice you need from lemons.  I just buy Great Value lemon juice. There you go. My go to secret for these two links. Enjoy. Lid Up or Down

Small bathroom information is always a hit with me. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with our master bath. This next link is one that first caught my eye. They have a recipe for toilet fizzies. It's short but good information. https://hometips.cooktopcove.com/2017/11/27/9-hacks-for-that-bathroom-that-will-change-your-life/?src=fbfan_62615&t=fbad&up=20180911&k=lgrs1ksaus00059 I'm going to take a quick one day break. I'll be back Monday.  For now have a great day and a better on tomorrow.

Raising the Bar

Who doesn't love coming up ideas for a home bar? Although I didnt end up with this idea, it put me on the path to find my own unique set up. Glasses of all shapes for it, cork screws, coasters, the sky's the limit. And...who doesn't love Martha Stewart? It's a good thing.  http://www.marthastewart.com/1506931/style-swanky-home-bar

Goulash (Goo-losh😁)

Today I fly home to Illinois after helping with a 20 day move across the country to California. Being a travel day, I thought that I would look for a yummy meal time bookmark that reminds me of a recipe I love to make and that recipe would be goulash. https://www.gonnawantseconds.com/american-goulash/ .  Granted, the recipe I speak about is my own, and is not the recipe below, but is still down to earth yumminess and very close to mine. I for one don't add cheese due to personal reasons but others do. My recipe calls for browning a pound of hamburger and dicing up one small onion and throwing in there while the hamburger is cooking, (do not discard the grease in the hamburger, it adds flavor) add a tablespoon of minced garlic. Jar or fresh, your choice and then in a separate pot,  boil about a pound of elbow noodles until the required time. Drain and add to the hamburger mixture, adding a 15 oz can of Italian stewed tomatoes. Serve with some garlic toast and a side salad if yo...

An Apple A Day

This next link is a recipe that I tried as an after dinner dessert. I have tried the hasselback potatoes and my friend are amazed and say how did you make those spiral potatoes? I just smile. You know if you made them you actually know that they're not spiraled but they're pretty, and I'll just take the compliment. h ttps://tiphero.com/easy-hasselback-baked-applesn Anyway, give these apples a try. I just love making new things.   Speaking of apples, my great-niece came to Easter one year and said to her mother OMG I think she made homemade applesauce look at that big bowl. And her mother said why do you think it's homemade she said there are peels in it. They were very fine but they were in there. She came to me and asked and I just smiled and told her I'd love to teach her how to make it and now she loves to make applesauce. Every time she comes to my house it's about the only thing she'll eat and I'm sure to have at least a dozen apples. And she comes ...

Hair Today Gone Tomorrow

Summers coming and I'm sharing a link I looked at a while back that has hair hacks for styling your hair.  When you work in the corporate world, you want to look your best.   Style tip number 3 in the link below was a good one for me. Having straight shoulder length hair that I rarely wanted to use product in, wasn't  easy to keep curls in check. By using the tug the end of your curls method while still warm, it will help relax the curl.  I know, I know, you have your favorite go tos and I do too but remember, I'm trying to clean up my bookmarks on my phone and who knows, I bet you'll try it just to try it. Let me know if you do. https://www.cosmopolitan.com/style-beauty/beauty/advice/a6514/life-changing-hair-hacks/ For now, have a great day and a better one tomorrow.

Mussels and Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Good evening. Today we are going to talk about one of my most favorite thing in the world. Bread. That's right. Good old fashioned bread. Toasted sourdough is my favorite but today I'm going to kick it up just a notch and talk about Red Lobsters Cheddar Bay biscuits. I love them with a bowl of their clam chowder. So soft and well, just yummy. You can surely buy the box mix in the store now but why. Use the recipe and make your own. Go on now and try it. Oh, and go steam some mussels with this other recipe  that Is added. They compliment each other. I will be flying back home on the 20th of April and plan to serve this on the 21st. I can't wait. https://www.food.com/recipe/red-lobster-cheddar-bay-biscuits-89684 and  https://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/247841/steamed-mussels-in-tomato-broth/ For now, have a great day and a better one tomorrow.

Just Looking

During my career at the company I worked for, there were days that I would think about how I could get the the best bang for my buck when it comes time to retire. I know we all have thought about this from time to time. As a younger woman I knew that there were many years ahead of me to even start thinking about retirement and that the time would come to start preparing, but never the less, I thought about it. Thats when I ran across this next link. It's just one of many out there,  but at the time, this one caught my eye. Have a look at it. I'm not sure if statistics may have changed a bit in these links, but it's good to know that there are places out there to support different incomes.  https://www3.forbes.com/leadership/25-cities-where-your-paycheck-stretches-the-farthest/?utm_campaign=paycheck-stretches-mbl-reboot&utm_source=taboola&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=townhallmedia-townhall&utm_term=25+U.S.+Cities+Where+You+Can+Live+Rich+on+Any+Salary Here ...

Indoor fun

So looking back a few years ago when my grandchildren were younger, we created this next project. It was so fun. We would hang a string of lights around the outside and a lantern inside along with some sheets and pillows for each tent. Here is the link we used. h ttp://www.thriftyandchic.com/2014/01/diy-3-sided-teepee-tutorial.html?m=1 It sure feels good to start eliminating these bookmarks my phone is awful full.  Thanks for listening today. These are short but I like keeping these short so not to bore you and you can get on with your own day. For now, have a great day and a better one tomorrow.

Cleaning The Bookmarks

Well I checked and cleaned up a few bookmarks and currently have 1887 bookmarks left. Being that I am still out of town, it will be hard for me to try some of my bookmarks since we are many miles from a store and we must use the groceries we obtained once we got here. Granted we spent several hundreds of dollars but I don't want to intrude by asking to make many things I have bookmarked. On another hand,  I love to make crafts, and with this link, I created neck pillows for a bus trip that my husband and I took to New York City and a couple more for our grandchildren when we all flew to Florida on vacation. Here's the link. https://craftygeminicreates.com/travel-neck-pillow/ Well, it's getting late as it's been a long day of unpacking with my good friend and we watched a little water volleyball at the pool and now we have come home to her house to eat some fried cabbage, potatoes, and polish sausage before heading to bed. For now, have a great day and a better one tomor...

No Longer Valid

____________ So today I'm just going to talk about cleaning up a few bookmarks. There's many things that are bookmarked like things that I was interested in from eBay. Now, much time has passed and going back to them to look at them to talk about them, I see that the site that I have bookmarked is no longer valid,so I'm just going to go through some of them today and clean a few of them up. You know how you save things and get busy doing other things and just save it so you can look at it later but you never go back to it and then items you intended to keep an eye on just ends up being sold and the listing is no longer valid. Okay, I'm going to take a look through them and start again tomorrow. For now, have a great day and a better one tomorrow

Surf Side of Turf

Hello.  Today we're going to take a look at a site that I bookmarked for grilled lobster tails. Remember, I'm trying as many of these grilled things while I'm visiting my friend in California because I don't own a grill and they're willing to let me make the mess. The only problem I'm having is it's an older grill and there's a lot of flare up on this gas grill and even on low I can't seem to control it unless I put everything to the sides. I tried throwing a little water on it but it put the whole flame out. Oops. All I had to do was push the igniter again and it started back up. I was worried though because the steaks would not have been done and I would have had to scramble to find another way to finish them.  https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/grilled-lobster-tails/ I pretty much followed the directions to the tea except for I didn't really cut them like they did I took a pair of shoes and cut them straight down the middle pulled the meat ou...

Steak It Is

I love a good steak. What I don't like is the mess of a grill. I just can't see paying outrageous money for a piece of metal with grates on it in a propane tank. And to make matters worse to clean up that mess after you use it. Everyone says well you just wait till the next meal and burn it off okay well that's all fine and dandy but it's the greasy mess that you have to clean up that turns me away. I would just assume you say cast iron pan on the stove but the smoke in the house sets off the alarm. We kid around saying that they know I'm cooking when that happens. When it's nice out I take a new wave cooktop outside and put a cast iron pan on it after sous viding the steaks. But since I'm in California visiting a friend and they have a grill, they allowed me to try a recipe that I had bookmarked. Thanks you guys for letting me create the mess at your place.  https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/rib-eye-steak-recipe-1942582 I created my own steak rub of brown...

It's Only The Beginning

Hello and Welcome. Today is the day. April 10th, 2022. Today I turn 62, have officially retired, and filed for social security.  It's that somewhat last chapter in my life and I'm going to make the most of it.  I have never kept a journal, but I thought that this would be a good time to start doing something different to keep my life busy. Well, I am keeping busy and have much to share with you regarding everything that interests me and I hope it interests you too. You never know, it may just jog a thought you may have had a while back about some of the things I talk about here.  I have not been compensated for anything in my blog, in any way at this time, as these are my own findings. The purpose of this blog, Breaking Out The Bookmarks, is to take a look at everything I've saved to my phone or computer over time. And it's not just those bookmarks,  I have them copied and pasted all over the place. I know we all have them. Go ahead, go look at your bookmarks....
