It's Only The Beginning
Hello and Welcome.
Today is the day. April 10th, 2022. Today I turn 62, have officially retired, and filed for social security. It's that somewhat last chapter in my life and I'm going to make the most of it.
I have never kept a journal, but I thought that this would be a good time to start doing something different to keep my life busy. Well, I am keeping busy and have much to share with you regarding everything that interests me and I hope it interests you too. You never know, it may just jog a thought you may have had a while back about some of the things I talk about here.
I have not been compensated for anything in my blog, in any way at this time, as these are my own findings.
The purpose of this blog, Breaking Out The Bookmarks, is to take a look at everything I've saved to my phone or computer over time. And it's not just those bookmarks, I have them copied and pasted all over the place.
I know we all have them. Go ahead, go look at your bookmarks. You'll be amazed at how many you actually have.
We bookmark our pages to mark where we've left off reading, or if you are like me and see something you like, you say to yourself, I'll get to it sometime. It adds up. It's crazy isn't it?
I've noticed that if you go into your web browser and look at your mobile bookmarks they now show how many you have. I've never seen that before. They may have always been there but I never noticed it.
I have over 1900 of those saved in mobile bookmarks alone and today we're going to start knocking them all off one by one.
I may not get to them all but I am sure going to try.
Are they all worth mentioning? Well, maybe not to you but something sparked an interest. Perhaps I'm a virtual hoarder. Look at that. Me coining the phrase "Virtual Hoarder" and intervention is necessary.
I've never created a blog before, but I'm on a mission.
I might talk about one or two of them during the day or I might talk about many, but I'm going to try to give at least some of my time every day to doing this because it's going to be one of my bucket list of things to do. No, I don't have a bucket list but there is a whole world out there waiting to be explored.
I don't have many wants or needs and I have enough to keep me humble but not spoiled.
So far I've had a pretty good life and have worked hard to get here.
Before I begin though, I have to tell you about an adventure I'm taking with a friend. Well it's not an adventure per se, but I am traveling with her from Illinois along the southern route to the desert in California as she's moving out there driving a U-Haul with a car in tow.
I've been to Oklahoma, I've been to Texas, but I've never been through New Mexico, so this will be at first for me. I can't wait to see the where she's moving to. I heard it's a pretty amazing 55 and older community.
Ok, back to the blog,
I really haven't paid much attention to the dates of the bookmarks and until I can get home to try the recipes on my list I'm just going to randomly choose them.
The first one on my list is……
Hellman's mayonnaise. Why you ask? I like to cook and I have many go tos, and summer is right around the corner. Who doesn't love an easy good go to potato salad?

And this next one isn't a recipe but a new place I found to share.
Rizzies Italian Restaurant in Peoria, Illinois. A friend of mine has a daughter that lives near Champaign and we all met there for dinner one night. I ordered the
fettuccine carbonara with steak. They advertise it as "prosciutto with a touch of onion sautéed in a creamy alfredo sauce, tossed with fettuccine". The steak was a sirloin steak cooked medium rare and was sliced over the top of my fettuccine. I'm partial to ribeye but this was very good.
If you are ever down around that way.. stop in there. You won't regret it.

Another page I bookmarked is this small space idea. Don't you agree that we all could use a little inspiration at one time or another? And you don't have to run with it, just know it's an idea someone else had and you may like it too.

I like to rearrange my furniture constantly and instead of going out and buying new things all the time, just rearranging everything every so often, gives me a different perspective of my home. And I love that they said this
"(Doing things your own way at your own pace — even if it feels a little hack-y at times — is completely kosher in our book. (And who doesn't love a good hack?)"
If you get a chance to comment on my blog, I hope to hear about some of your favorite things too.
For now, have a great day and a better one tomorrow.
